Chess Coaching

Each year we employ a professional Chess coach who works with both students and teachers, teaching the fundamentals of chess, along with the tactics and strategies that can be employed to enhance their skills.

Coaching sessions involve both the teaching of skills and the opportunity to play games against a range of opponents.

Trophies are presented at the end of the term.

Term 2

  • Coaching is offered as an integral part of the Year 3 and 4 Curriculum, whereby all students at this level undertake weekly coaching sessions during the term.

  • Other students in Years 1, 2, 5 and 6 are also offered the opportunity of coaching sessions

Term 3

  • As part of our Gifted and Talented Program, extension chess coaching sessions are offered to those students who demonstrated advanced critical thinking skills during term 2.
