Chess Coaching Each year we employ a professional Chess coach who works with both students and teachers, teaching the fundamentals of chess, along with the tactics and strategies that can be employed to enhance their skills. Coaching sessions involve both the teaching of skills and the opportunity to play games against a range of opponents. Trophies are presented at the end of the term. Term 2

House Chess Competition |

During term 3 each year, we have our annual House Chess Competition. There are 4 Houses – Boyle (blue), Chappell (green), Gould (gold) and Newcombe (red). Students in Years 3 & 4 compete for the annual trophy by playing 3 games of chess over 2 days. Each game is with an opponent from each of the other houses. Students in Years 5 & 6 have their own trophy and also play 3 games against opponents from other houses. Interschool Chess Annual tournament with students from Warrandyte and Templestowe Park Primary Schools. 12 students represent each of the 3 schools. The tournament is usually followed with a BBQ lunch. Lunchtime Chess Available all year – every Thursday in the library. All welcome!
